About Premier Cabinet Revival

It Started With a Simple Belief:
Good Cabinets Are Worth Saving

At Premier Cabinet Revival, we have always looked at things a little differently and believe that good cabinets deserve love and attention. Since 1999, our work has been built around woodworking, craftsmanship and the belief that cabinetry should not be discarded simply because its appearance has aged. With 25 years of woodworking experience, we have learned to recognize what can be repaired, what can be restored and what a carefully chosen new finish can do for a room. That is where the story of Premier Cabinet Revival really begins. Not with tearing things out but with seeing what is worth keeping.

Why “Revival”?

Our name describes what we set out to do. Cabinets take up a large part of a kitchen, so when they start looking tired, the entire room can feel tired with them. Yet underneath an old finish may still be cabinetry with plenty of life left. That is what interests us.

Instead of immediately recommending replacement, we look at the existing cabinets first. Their condition. Their construction. The damage they may have picked up over the years. And, importantly, what can realistically be done with them. For homeowners considering cabinet refinishing in San Francisco, restoration can provide a very different route from a complete kitchen remodel. A dated color can change. Scratches and surface damage can be addressed. Hardware can be updated. Doors and drawers can be repaired. A professional new finish can completely alter the way the cabinetry sits within the room. The cabinets remain familiar but the kitchen does not have to.

25 Years of Working With Wood

Working with wood for this long teaches you not to judge a cabinet only by what you see on the surface. A worn finish is one thing and a loose joint is another. A sticking drawer, damaged veneer or misaligned cabinet door needs more than a new color.

Our woodworking background is an important part of the way we approach cabinet repair and cabinet restoration. Before focusing on how the finished cabinets should look, we pay attention to what they need. That can mean cleaning and preparing surfaces, sanding, repairing imperfections and dealing with areas of wear before priming and refinishing begin.

It is slower than simply covering what is already there and is also the difference between trying to hide age and actually doing something about it.

We Do Not Want Every Kitchen to Look the Same

Trends come and go quickly but your kitchen has to live in your home much longer than that.

One homeowner may want a bright, clean finish. Another may prefer something deeper or more traditional. Sometimes the new cabinet color needs to work around countertops or flooring that are staying exactly where they are. Our approach to kitchen cabinet refinishing leaves room for those differences.

We offer color selection and custom color matching so that the finished cabinetry can work with the room around it. Hardware can also be updated when the existing handles or hinges no longer suit the direction of the space. We would rather help you make decisions based on your actual home than reproduce the same kitchen again and again.

The Part You Do Not See Matters

When a refinishing project is complete, people notice the color first. We notice what had to happen before the color went on.

Proper preparation has always mattered to us because kitchen cabinets aren't decorative pieces that nobody touches. They are opened, closed, wiped, bumped and used every day.

That is why our professional cabinet refinishing process includes careful surface preparation, priming and professional coating application before the protective finish and final details are completed. There may also be repairs to make along the way.

Our cabinet repair and restoration work can address problems involving doors, drawers, joints, damaged veneer, scratches, dents, worn finishes, hardware and certain moisture-related damage. If something needs attention, we would rather deal with it than paint over it and hope nobody notices.

Sometimes the Best Transformation Is the One That Keeps What You Already Have

One of our favorite parts of this work is seeing homeowners look at their finished cabinets and realize how much of the original kitchen is still there. They did not necessarily need an entirely different room. They needed to see the room differently.

For some homeowners, refinishing makes sense because their cabinetry is still structurally sound. For others, avoiding the disruption of a complete cabinet replacement is important. And sometimes it is simply difficult to justify removing cabinets that continue to do their job perfectly well. Most kitchen cabinet refinishing projects can be completed in approximately three to five days, depending on the size and condition of the cabinetry.

A relatively short project can change something homeowners have been looking at, and perhaps putting up with, for years.

Kitchens Are Not the Only Cabinets That Age

Bathroom cabinetry deals with daily use too. Moisture, worn surfaces and dated colors can leave a bathroom vanity looking older than it really is. Premier Cabinet Revival provides bathroom cabinet refinishing and restoration as well, bringing the same attention to preparation and finish into a smaller space.

Whether we are working in a kitchen or bathroom, the question remains the same: What can we do with what is already here?

Cabinet Refinishing in San Francisco Since 1999

Premier Cabinet Revival is based in San Francisco, California, and our approach today has been shaped by the experience we have built since 1999.

In that time, styles have changed more than once. Colors have gone out of fashion and eventually come back. Kitchens have become more modern, hardware has changed, and homeowners have found new ways to use the rooms they spend the most time in. However, good craftsmanship has not stopped mattering. Neither has knowing when something is worth saving. That is the thinking we bring to cabinet refinishing in San Francisco, kitchen cabinet restoration, bathroom cabinet refinishing and cabinet repair today.

We are not interested in changing cabinets simply for the sake of changing them. We want to understand what is not working for you anymore and determine whether refinishing or restoration can give those cabinets another life because sometimes starting fresh does not mean starting over. Sometimes it means taking another look at what you already have.
